The Get Running training program runs for 8 weeks beginning in February and concluding with participation in the 5 or 10km event in the Canberra Times Marathon Festival in April. Participants meet in various locations around Canberra on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday mornings.

Who should register?

This training program is designed for those who:

  • – Want to start your running journey or return to running post injury or a bit of time off.
  • – Want to make that commitment to run regularly.
  • – Want to participate in the Canberra Times Marathon Festival in April.
  • – Need some running buddies.

2024 Program

Canberra Runners Get Running 2024 training program is designed to help you reach your running goal and finish the Canberra Times Marathon Festival 5 km or 10 km events on 7 April 2024 and enjoy it!

Commencing: 18 February 2024.

Duration: 8 weeks.

Cost: Canberra Runners member $100, non-member $165 and includes membership for one year.

When: Starting on Sunday 18 February 2024, we train three mornings a week: Tuesday and Thursday (6:30 a.m to 7:30 a.m) and Sunday (from 7:30 a.m.) for 8 weeks.

Location: Cnr Parkes Place West and King Edward Terrace, Parkes.


Included in your registration fee is:

  • – A free Running and Shoe Assessment with a Podiatrist at the Walking Clinic.
  • – A free Injury Screening Assessment with a Physiotherapist at the Canberra Physio Clinic.
  • – A twenty-dollar ($20) voucher and from The Runners Shop.
  • – An information session with representatives from the above sponsors talking all things shoes and running.
  • – 12 months membership with Canberra Runners.
  • – A free collapsible cup from Canberra Runners.
  • – All sessions are coached by an accredited coach with support coaches and runners.

Join us for a coffee or breakfast at a local café following the Sunday run, a great opportunity for a catchup with other runners.
